Luckily I got a layer 3 switch c3550, and two routers 1841 and 3640, this will certainly give me a good hands on experience of Cisco routers and switches and also practice labs for CCIE Written and Lab.
But I wanted to share my experience of playing with gns3 on different operating systems, during my studies of CCNP. I practiced almost all labs on gns3 simulator (note:- some of the switching command are not supported on gns3). I installed gns3 on Microsoft Widows and also on Linux ubuntu and I found gns3 very stable and error free on ubuntu rather than Windows.
And I will suggest you to give a try to install gns3 on ubuntu and have fun. Because It becomes very hectic when you have configured multiple routers for your practice lab on gns3 and at the end it give an error and is shutdown and all of your toplogy and configuration have gone… poooooffff

For those who don’t know what ubuntu is, for them, Ubuntu is an operating system by Linux just like windows. It is more stable and Virus free operating system. and the big thing is that it is license free.
